When I was a kid Tucson flooded.
Angry, churning waters filled the washes and destroyed roads and bridges.
The gutters on the South Side of The Old Pueblo flowed like filthy rivers.
I didn't have a swimming pool so I put my swim suit on and played in the gutter.
Cars would go by and honk. I waved happily and smiled. Muddy, black gutter water splashed into my mouth.
It's raining today. I love the smell of rain in the desert.
Would that I lived near a flooded gutter...
